Terms of Service

By accessing or using CosmoMET ("the Service"), available at cosmomet.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

CosmoMET is a free, personal fitness tracking tool that converts exercises into walking step-equivalents using research-backed MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values. The Service is provided as-is for informational and personal tracking purposes only.

The Service is not a medical device, medical software, or clinical tool. Step-equivalents are estimates based on published research, not direct measurements. See our Medical Disclaimer for full details.

CosmoMET is and will remain a free service. There are no paid tiers, premium features, or subscriptions. Voluntary donations may be accepted to offset hosting costs, but no features will ever be locked behind a paywall.

Account creation is currently by invitation only. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to notify the operator immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You agree not to:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or accounts
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Misrepresent the Service's output as medical advice or clinical data

The CosmoMET name, logo, and original content are the property of the operator. The MET values used are derived from publicly available academic research (primarily the Ainsworth Compendium of Physical Activities, 2011) and are not proprietary.

Your personal fitness data belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of any data you enter into the Service.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

The operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes but is not limited to damages arising from:

• Reliance on step-equivalent calculations or any output of the Service
• Injury or health complications from exercise activities
• Data loss or service interruptions
• Errors or inaccuracies in MET values or formulas

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
